In a dramatic turn of events, Simone Biles has won a silver medal in the women's floor exercise final at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The American gymnast, who had been favored to win gold, struggled in warm-ups and was forced to settle for a score of 14.000. Brazils Rebeca Andrade clinched the gold medal with a score of 14.200.
The silver medal is Biles fourth of the 2024 Olympics, adding to her gold medals in the team event, all-around competition, and balance beam. Despite missing out on an eighth gold medal, Biles said she was proud of her performance and that she had achieved more than her wildest dreams.
Andrade's gold medal is Brazil's first in gymnastics at the 2024 Olympics. The 22-year-old gymnast had previously won a silver medal in the all-around competition and a bronze medal in the vault.
