Aston Villa Women: A Rising Star in English Football

Aston Villa Women Football Club is a professional women's football club based in Walsall, England. The club is affiliated with Aston Villa F.C. and competes in the Women's Super League, the top tier of English women's football.

A Brief History

Aston Villa Women was founded in 1987 as a community club known as West Bromwich Albion Women. In 2002, the club moved to Kidderminster Harriers and was renamed Kidderminster Harriers Women. In 2021, the club rebranded as Aston Villa Women and became fully integrated with Aston Villa F.C.

Current Form

In the 2022-23 season, Aston Villa Women made their debut in the Women's Super League. Despite being a newly promoted team, they have shown impressive form and currently sit in eighth place in the league standings.

The team boasts a number of talented players, including Scotland international goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, England youth international defender Maya Le Tissier, and top scorer Rachel Daly. Under the guidance of manager Carla Ward, the team is aiming for a strong finish in their first WSL campaign.
