Tokyo Olympics 2020 Prize Money Announced
Who takes home the gold?
Saudi Arabia has set the bar high when it comes to rewarding its Olympic athletes. In what may well be the single largest payout for an Olympic medal, Saudi authorities awarded karate athlete Tareg Hamedi 5 million riyals (about $1.3 million) for winning gold at the Tokyo Games. This generous prize reflects the country's commitment to supporting its athletes and recognizing their achievements on the world stage.
